The cash award has sparked a bit of controversy because of the country’s current economic situation and for few because of the fact that she is white and based in the United States. Other members of the Zimbabwe Olympic team were given between US$2,000 and US$10,000 each.Kirsty Coventry’s $100,000 Handshake from Mugabe

Zimbabwe’s greatest Olympian ever! Kirsty deserves all the respect, she did the country proud. It takes a lot of hard work to get to where she is now, right on top of the world.
So I think it’s just right the country has recognised her contributions.
Atleast the money did not go to those so called ‘war veterans’

Well said, she deserves every bit of that money. She’s a role model to many young Zimbabwean girls, even to us grown women. It takes a lot to be were she is and yes, she has chosen to keep her citizenship and market Zimbabwe in a better light. We won’t mention names but most of us want to get rid of that green passport.
I like that “My Zimbabwe Today”, at least the money is not going to the so called “war veterans”. Any who more power to Kirsty
